The gifts they bring

This is a picture that Djuna made for me the last time I had chemotherapy. They are sunflowers. And Dinah likes to use her play food and dishes to make me soup. Dwayne, besides keeping the entire household running in addition to managing his ever-growing workload, keeps me well-hydrated with Orangina and root beer when I’m feeling yucky. I am very well taken care of, as you can see.

I’m just home from getting the Adriamycin I missed two weeks ago. Next week, if all stays on schedule, I’ll have the first of four treatments of Taxol.

Our dear friend Sandy is here this weekend from Connecticut. She wrote a wonderful, well-reviewed picture book called The Giant Hug, and she’ll be reading it to Dinah’s and Djuna’s class tomorrow morning. Then, she’ll be reading her book at a local bookstore’s storytime on Saturday. When the store heard that Sandy was in town, they scheduled her right in because The Giant Hug is a big Saturday storytime favorite!

Anyway, Sandy has pitched right in and planned dinners and more to help us out! We are so glad she’s here.
